Hubly is an autostopping drill and cranial access kit with the goal of making bedside surgery safer and accessible. We hope to streamline bedside intracranial access, decrease operating room reliance and facilitate treatment for emerging indications.

THE PROBLEM
Intracranial access, the puncturing of a skull through the skull, is an often life-saving procedure most commonly used to relieve elevated intracranial pressure and treat hydrocephalus, a condition where the spinal fluid produced by the brain is overproduced or improperly reabsorbed.
Today, the skull puncture procedure can be antiquated and very expensive
Neurosurgery should be accessible.
The problem with bedside surgery
Patients with hydrocephalus, traumatic brain injury, intracranial hemorrhage, cancers of the nervous system, brain tumors, epilepsy, and subdural hematoma often undergo surgical treatments which rely on intracranial access. Such procedures are performed both inside (180,000 procedures U.S. annual) and outside (20,000 U.S. annual) of the operating room, making it one of the most common neurosurgeries. Yet, the current bedside procedure relies on an out-of-date hand-crank drill deficient of added safety and ease of use features.
